Diploma for Senior Technician in Logistics: FERCAM's A&O Director of Operations among the members of the examination committee in Novara

The fruitful cooperation between FERCAM and the Istituto Tecnico Superiore ("Higher Technical Institute") of Novara has recently led to the involvement of Giovanni Scarpetta, Operations Director of the FERCAM Air&Ocean Division, in this year's examination committee for the course Tecnico Superiore per l’Infomobilità e le infrastrutture logistiche (“Senior Technician for Infomobility and Logistics Infrastructure”), as an external commissioner. "I felt very honored to be able to participate in the evaluation of future professionals in our field. Our activity has at its core an exquisitely operational soul and to understand this it is essential to be able to have hands-on experience in the field. The graduates of this course will certainly have an extra advantage because this training course provides students with both valuable and effective theoretical and practical tools for logistics activities".

The examination session took place during the last week of July. As per the rules, the committee was composed of five people, including an internal commissioner, two external commissioners from the industry, a regional delegate, and a president. Scarpetta comments: "There was immediately great harmony within the commission, and I am happy to have had the opportunity to share this experience with professionals of this caliber. It was both very interesting and challenging. We examined 23 people, each of whom underwent three different tests over the course of 3 days".
"I played the role, quite authentically, of the company in search of new talent to be included in its workforce, thus assessing together the basic training level and potential for future development. Many questions naturally concerned the technical side, the subject area of study, but we certainly also paid great attention to both attitude and approach".

The Director of Operations concludes: "It was really a wonderful experience, out of the usual daily routine, in a positive and collaborative working environment. Who knows if other opportunities will arise in the future, I would gladly try my hand in the role of teacher!
Giovanni Scarpetta has expressed the desire to donate his entire compensation for the job to a charitable cause. A donation will therefore be made to the Ala Kipengere Association, that with the study aid project (site in Italian) supports the primary and secondary education of young Tanzanians in the district of Makete.
