FERCAM Fine Art Promotes Sustainability: 4,725 kg of Wooden Crates Donated for Circular Economy Projects

FERCAM is strengthening its commitment to sustainable logistics through an initiative led by the Fine Art division: 4,725 kg of wooden crates, used for the transportation of artworks, have been donated to be repurposed within circular economy projects.

An initiative that enhances material value and reduces waste
In the art logistics sector, crates used for handling artworks, although made of highly durable materials, often cannot be reused due to ministerial regulations governing the transport of cultural heritage. This limits their lifecycle and generates a surplus of unused material.

To address this issue, the FERCAM Fine Art team in Venice coordinated the collection and donation of the crates, giving new purpose to materials that are still perfectly valuable.

A second life thanks to Echo Labs
The wood will now be repurposed by Echo Labs, a social enterprise founded by FERCAM, which develops upcycling and eco-design projects to create new resources from recovered materials. This synergy is a concrete example of industrial symbiosis, where logistics integrates with sustainable production processes.
The initiative further reinforces FERCAM’s sustainable vision, combining environmental responsibility and innovation within the specialized logistics sector.
