FERCAM transports apple trees from Trentino-Alto Adige to India by air
Italian expertise supporting global fruit production

The operation was coordinated by FERCAM India, which operates three branches in the country and is becoming an increasingly trusted provider of high-value logistics solutions. The shipment was commissioned by an Indian trading company attracted by the excellence of the apple varieties cultivated in the Italian Alps.
The first major shipment, bound for New Delhi, was carried out by air to ensure the fastest delivery and compliance with phytosanitary requirements. A specialized team handled the logistics of live plants and biological material, carefully managing temperature, humidity, and ventilation throughout the entire supply chain.
At destination, the trees will be used to establish new fruit orchards serving both the domestic Indian market and exports to other Asian countries. The project is a concrete example of international agri-food cooperation and highlights the growing global interest in Italy’s top-tier fruit production.
“Our company has long been active in international nursery logistics, where precision, traceability, and a deep understanding of phytosanitary regulations are essential,” says Juri Michelozzi, Director of Air & Ocean at FERCAM. “This project perfectly illustrates how logistics can support the export of Italian agricultural expertise and contribute to the development of new fruit supply chains in emerging markets.”
India is a key strategic growth market for FERCAM.
“Being chosen for such a delicate and meaningful shipment confirms the trust in our logistics expertise and in our strong local presence in India,” Michelozzi concludes.
With this new project, FERCAM—already active in the transport of agricultural materials and technologies, further strengthens its role as a strategic partner for agri-food and nursery supply chains, promoting the excellence of Italian production and supporting the internationalization of our country’s agricultural enterprises.
