PepsiCo sceglie FERCAM e il biodiesel HVO per una logistica più sostenibile lungo il corridoio Italia–Serbia

PepsiCo Serbia, in collaboration with FERCAM, has adopted the use of HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) biodiesel for international transport along the Italy–Serbia route, significantly reducing the environmental impact of its logistics operations.
FERCAM has long been operating vehicles powered by HVO on various international routes. Thanks to the agreement with PepsiCo, this renewable biofuel is now also used for transporting approximately 700 tonnes of raw materials annually to the production facility in Maglić, Serbia, over a route exceeding 40,000 kilometres per year. The use of HVO allows for an estimated reduction of more than 46 tonnes of CO₂, while maintaining high logistical performance standards.

HVO, produced from renewable sources and free of fossil-based components, is one of the most advanced solutions currently available to cut greenhouse gas emissions in heavy-duty transport—by up to 84% compared to conventional diesel.

FERCAM is committed to developing low-impact transport solutions. That is why we chose HVO as an efficient and responsible alternative along the Italy–Serbia corridor, in collaboration with PepsiCo,” said Marko Kambić, Country Manager of FERCAM Serbia.

Following the positive results of this initiative, PepsiCo has decided to extend the use of HVO to a second strategic route starting in April 2025: the transport of Doritos products from Romania to Croatia and Slovenia. This additional flow moves over 300 tonnes per year and allows for a reduction of more than 160 tonnes of CO₂ emissions—90% less compared to previous levels.

These initiatives confirm FERCAM as a strategic partner in the ecological transition of the logistics sector, thanks to the implementation of concrete, traceable, and high-impact environmental solutions. The collaboration with PepsiCo demonstrates how the integration of logistics innovation and responsible industrial choices can generate measurable results and contribute to achieving shared climate goals.
