FERCAM DOO BEOGRAD obtains SBTi approval for its emissions reduction target
FERCAM DOO BEOGRAD, the Serbian branch of the FERCAM Group, has obtained approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its near-term science-based emissions reduction target.

The approval confirms that the company’s climate targets are aligned with the latest climate science and consistent with the objective of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, in line with the Paris Agreement.
The validated targets commit the company to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 63.0% and Scope 3 emissions by 37.5% by 2035, using 2024 as the base year. Scope 1 and 2 include, respectively, direct emissions from sources controlled by the company and indirect emissions associated with purchased energy; Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions generated across the value chain, both upstream and downstream.
The target-setting process was led by FERCAM with the support of Marion Furtschegger, SBTi Certified Expert at Terra Institute, a consultancy specialising in climate strategy and science-based target setting. The support covered the entire process: from preparing the emissions inventory and selecting the methodology through to the final submission.
For FERCAM Serbia, obtaining independently validated targets means going beyond the management of its own emissions. Extending responsibility to the entire value chain reflects a sustainability vision that is not limited to direct operations, but considers the overall impact of the logistics sector.
With the target now approved, the company will begin implementing its decarbonisation pathway, with annual public reporting on progress against the 2024 base year.
