The South Tyrolean logistics operator FERCAM has established its first branch in India, located in New Delhi. “FERCAM INDIA PVT LTD”.
«We decided to initially focus on New Delhi as a natural choice due to the significant existing traffic volumes and the economic importance of the district. Today, we offer consolidated air and sea services, and having our own personnel on-site will allow us to be closer to the needs of our customers», says Jury Michelozzi.
In the company's short/medium-term strategic investment plans, there is a reinforcement of its presence in Mumbai, Calcutta, and Chennai. «These are the main production areas in India, which will allow us to cover the entire country with our direct presence», Michelozzi adds.
Unlike the slowly growing or even stagnant European economy, the Indian Subcontinent region has been experiencing significant economic growth in terms of GDP and industrial production for years. According to IMF estimates, India will emerge as the world's third-largest economy by 2027, with an estimated GDP exceeding 5 trillion dollars.
«Our goal is to develop where the economy is growing, and consequently, where the demand for logistics and shipping services is vibrant. We already serve many clients active in the Indian market with our sea and air divisions in Europe, and we handle the imports and exports of Indian producers. This first investment in India is the logical consequence of our strategy to always be close to our customers and the market, with local employees who understand the peculiarities of the area, thus ensuring the highest possible quality and reliability of our services», concludes Hannes Baumgartner, CEO of FERCAM.
