FERCAM Fine Art’s contribution to the exhibition “Bernini and the Barberini”

The exhibition “Bernini and the Barberini,” open to the public from 12 February to 14 June at Palazzo Barberini, aims to explore the pivotal relationship between Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Maffeo Barberini, his first and most influential patron, who later became Pope Urban VIII in 1623. A bond that profoundly shaped the history of 17th-century art and architecture.

FERCAM Fine Art had the privilege of contributing to this major project, overseeing the packing, handling and installation of numerous artworks from various Italian cities. The items entrusted to our team covered all principal categories: manuscripts, busts, sculptures, paintings and artefacts documenting Bernini’s artistic development, from his early experiences alongside his father Pietro to the full maturity of a distinctive and groundbreaking style.

The exhibition is part of the celebrations marking the 400th anniversary of the consecration of the new St Peter’s Basilica (1626), a context that further enhances the significance of the works on display.

Our Fine Art department managed every phase of transportation and installation with meticulous attention to the specific requirements of each piece, ensuring precise coordination and highly specialised execution.

Taking part in this initiative has been a source of great pride for us. The technical and logistical challenges were matched by the enthusiasm and sense of achievement that make our involvement in this exhibition a particularly valuable experience for the entire Fine Art team.
