Serbia’s first new electric tractor unit joins the FERCAM fleet

[Belgrade, 13 May 2026] FERCAM, international logistics operator headquartered in Italy, has integrated the first fully electric truck operating in Serbia into the fleet of its Serbian branch. Four electric vehicles are already in operation at the company’s headquarters in Bolzano, and with this investment FERCAM is now taking a significant step towards sustainable and environmentally responsible transport in Serbia and across the Balkan region as well.

Representatives of the media, business associations and the academic community had the opportunity to learn more about this innovative vehicle on May 12, during a presentation event organised by the company in Belgrade. The strong interest shown by the professional community confirmed that FERCAM has taken the right step, in line with the campaign slogan: “We don’t wait for change, we drive it.”
FERCAM Serbia uses the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric tractor unit for goods distribution within Belgrade and on the Belgrade–Novi Sad–Belgrade route. During April, the vehicle covered around 10,000 kilometres. Over this distance, FERCAM estimates a saving of more than 3.5 tonnes of CO₂eq compared with an equivalent diesel vehicle. Thanks to its fully electric drive, the truck produces no direct CO₂ emissions during operation.

A concrete decarbonization journey
This achievement is part of the Emission Free Project, the program through which FERCAM has been steering its transition towards zero-emission operations for several years, through fleet electrification, the adoption of alternative fuels such as Bio-LNG and HVO, and the improvement of energy efficiency across its facilities.
Bringing this strategy to Serbia means operating in a more challenging environment, with developing infrastructure and an evolving regulatory framework. Yet it is precisely in markets like this that pioneering choices can accelerate systemic change. The vehicle chosen for this first phase is the eActros 600, a new-generation truck designed for long-haul transport. With a range of up to 500 km on a single charge and fast-charging capability, reaching 80% in less than one hour, it represents a concrete solution for launching transport operations with zero direct CO₂ emissions, even in markets where charging infrastructure is still developing.
With a transport capacity of up to 33 euro pallets, the eActros 600 offers a high-capacity electric alternative for regional distribution flows, combining operational efficiency with a lower environmental impact during use. Drivers assigned to the vehicle completed dedicated training on safety procedures, driving techniques and high-voltage charging operations. “In addition to significantly reducing emissions, this new truck also helps reduce traffic noise thanks to its almost silent operation, making it particularly suitable for urban environments. In this way, we provide our customers with the exceptional level of service they are accustomed to, while contributing to a healthier environment for people in Serbia,” says Marko Kambić, Managing Director of FERCAM Serbia.
Sustainability is no longer just a long-term goal, but a concrete responsibility for the transport industry today, emphasizes Johann Harder, Fleet Director at FERCAM.
With the introduction of the electric tractor unit in Serbia, we want to show that modern logistics can be efficient, reliable and environmentally responsible at the same time,” says Harder.

The road towards sustainable transport
Latest-generation electric trucks produce no tailpipe emissions, reduce noise pollution and offer lower energy costs per kilometre compared with diesel vehicles. They also help strengthen companies’ sustainability profiles and support the achievement of ESG targets.
FERCAM continues to invest in innovative solutions to support companies in developing decarbonized supply chains, through tailored and measurable pathways.
