FERCAM renews its partnership with FISI and extends the collaboration to cross-country skiing
[Bolzano, 24 September 2026] – For the 2026/2027 season, the South Tyrolean logistics operator confirms its collaboration with the Italian National Biathlon Team and, for the first time, also supports the Italian National Cross-Country Ski Team. Two mobile ski rooms return to the road with a new livery.
The collaboration between FERCAM and the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) enters a new phase. For the 2026/2027 season, the logistics operator renews its role as official partner of the Federation, confirming its collaboration with the Italian National Biathlon Team and extending it to the Italian National Cross-Country Ski Team.
The extension to cross-country skiing is a natural development of a project created to address one of the most practical needs in international sport: giving technical staff operational continuity throughout a season built on constant travel, tight schedules and highly specialised equipment.
"I would rather not dwell on the parallels between sport and logistics, but I think it is fair to say that the collaboration between FERCAM and the Italian national teams is a particularly successful combination. It started a couple of years ago with biathlon, it has grown stronger over time, and this year we have had the pleasure of extending it to cross-country skiing as well. I am also especially proud to present the fleet that will accompany the teams: the semi-trailers in their new livery and the new road tractors, state-of-the-art vehicles running on HVO, a fuel produced from renewable sources. We will put all our experience and expertise at the teams' disposal, to give them the best possible support and to match the level of a national team of this calibre", said Hannes Baumgartner, Managing Director of FERCAM.
In biathlon, this need led to the creation of a mobile ski room designed around the daily work of the skimen. The trailer offers six workstations and holds at least 180 pairs of skis, giving the team a complete technical workspace that is ready for use at every stop on the World Cup circuit.
The project has also transformed the time required to manage the facility. Set-up and dismantling, which previously took four to five hours, can now be completed in around 20 minutes. The result is greater continuity in the technical work and more time for the skimen to prepare the race equipment.
With the new season, this experience is extended to cross-country skiing through a second dedicated trailer. Here too the aim is to create a mobile workspace able to follow the team along the international calendar, bringing equipment, tools and preparation activities together in a single structure.
Waxing calls for particular attention. It is a central part of preparation in cross-country skiing and is strongly influenced by snow, temperature and track conditions. Having a dedicated facility available during transfers allows technical staff to maintain continuity in their work even as the competition venue changes week after week.
"We know exactly what these transfers involve, and the athletes know it better than anyone: the driving hours, the driver changes, an enormous commitment. Having these two vehicles travelling with us, one for biathlon and one for cross-country, is an achievement for us. For the 2026/2027 season, both trailers will also be recognisable thanks to a new livery in the FERCAM and FISI colours. The signing of the agreement at FERCAM's Bolzano headquarters was also an occasion for the worlds of sport and business to meet. Athletes and technical directors spent time with FERCAM employees, who had the chance to try their hand at the laser shooting range and experience the focus and precision the discipline demands.
