From Everest to Gasherbrum I: Marco Confortola completes the crown of the Eight-thousanders, with FERCAM by his side
[Bolzano, 19 August 2025] A lifelong dream comes true: with his heart pounding at 8,080 meters, Marco Confortola finally reaches the summit of Gasherbrum I and writes his name into the legend of world mountaineering.

20 July 2025, a date forever etched in Marco Confortola’s memory. Upon reaching the summit, he officially enters the very select group of mountaineers who have climbed all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks without supplemental oxygen. A titanic achievement that began in 2004 with Everest, now placing him among the most elite circle in global mountaineering, an accomplishment made possible also thanks to the logistical and human support of FERCAM, his faithful partner in this incredible vertical odyssey.
A long-standing partnership to stand together at the top of the world
The relationship between Confortola and FERCAM was born years ago, from an encounter that turned into a lasting collaboration for the complete management of the transport of mountaineering equipment: «it all started thanks to a corporate event where I had been invited to share my story. There was an immediate connection, and from there a long friendship began. We have shared many expeditions: from Batura to Nanga Parbat, and even three attempts on Gasherbrum. They have never lost a single container, and timing has always been respected. This speaks volumes about FERCAM’s professionalism».
For the G1 expedition as well, technical equipment was shipped and organized with care through an air freight service that ensured strict timing and cargo safety. The expedition barrels, highly resistant to drops, bad weather, and long transfers, were filled with ice axes, crampons, ropes, pitons, technical clothing, tents, sleeping bags, and provisions, all of which needed to travel under optimal conditions: «good communication with local agents is essential: imagine if food were left three days at 40 degrees under the sun in a plastic container, it would be a disaster. FERCAM’s attention to these details is a guarantee and an integral part of the expedition’s success».
The success of a 21-year-long mission
The message marking the conclusion of the mission arrived a few days after the summit, from Islamabad: «we did it! The crown is complete. FERCAM always with me. I am preparing the barrels for the return cargo: bringing all the equipment back home. Finally, no more Eight-thousanders».
For the mountaineer, the achievement is also a moment of gratitude, as he wrote to his contacts at the South Tyrolean logistics company: «my crown is your crown. Without you, none of this would have been possible. It’s important to say it, because those who do your job are part of something great».
Confortola, mountaineer from Valtellina and mountain guide, has declared to the press that he now intends to dedicate himself to sharing the values of the mountains, through corporate talks and trekking experiences in Nepal. The closure of the “race to the Eight-thousanders” therefore does not mark an endpoint, but the beginning of a new chapter. And FERCAM will continue to support him as an ambassador of the mountains and of courage, in line with the values of resilience, reliability, and expertise that unite the world of logistics with that of mountaineering.
